MISSION STATEMENT:
Continue to supply and support the Galion Public Library in its endeavors to offer a variety of interesting up-to-date and exciting programs both for the youth and adults of the community of Galion.
ABOUT THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY:
The Friends of the Galion Public Library are an active, non-profit group of interested patrons who meet regularly and assist the library in various ways. For current news items, see the Friends of the Library's Facebook page.
In addition to the gargantuan task of managing the used book sale, the friends undertake various other fundraisers. The gathered funds are used to donate needed items for the library, including technology (computers, printers, microfilm readers, ...), furniture (book carts, reading-room chairs, ...), and items for library programs. In addition to the gargantuan task of managing the used book sale, the friends undertake various other fundraisers. During the summer from May to October, the Friends continue to participate by setting up a stand at the Farmers Market held at Heise Park. One of the most exciting projects of the Friends of the Library each year is the Twelve Days of Christmas raffle, where ticket holders can choose from at least 12 diffrent prize drawings to be held in December. The gathered funds are used to donate needed items for the library, including technology (computers, printers, microfilm readers, ...), furniture (book carts, chairs, ...), and items for library programs.
The Friends of the Library used book sale is usually held twice a year, in the spring and in the fall. Only those books that are in very good to excellent condition make it to the sale. We accept history, childrens' books, novels, cookbooks, romance, biographies, paperbacks, etc. Included are many cooking, science, decorating, etc., magazines. Other popular items are CDs, DVDs, and multi-piece puzzles. Accepted materials for the book sale include ephemera paper items such as vintage movie star magazines and postcards, old books, sheet music and other interesting vintage paper items.
